So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Learning About Sault Ste. Marie

The twin towns of Sault Ste. Marie are well known for their family friendly lifestyle and many outdoor activities. Each year many people are visiting the area and many more are deciding to settle there on a more permanent basis. Those looking for a great place to call home should check out these unique towns, one on the American side of the river and the other on the Canadian side.

The area has a long and interesting history. Archaeologists have found substantial evidence of human habitation going back many hundreds of years. The river provided a plentiful source of fish for a year round food supply. The rapids that run through the area make the waters particularly good and a host of marine life is still found. There are still many people making their living from the river.

Fishing has always been a big part of the the commerce and even today many people come to enjoy a days fishing with friends and family. There are some excellent charter companies who can take out individuals or groups. All of the tackle can provided as well instruction from experienced fisherman who have spent their lives on the water.

Snow shoeing and cross country skiing are both great ways to get out and enjoy the fresh air. They are suitable for people of all ages and even the youngest family member can come along. Many people in the area love to skate and there are many indoor and outdoor skating facilities. There is just nothing like the fun and romance of an evening spent on the ice, especially during the holiday season.

The Sault Ste. Marie area is well known for it abundance of year round outdoor sports and activities. There really is something to suit everyone. From gentle walks around the parks and trails to challenging running and cycle paths. There are also designated beach areas along the river that are perfect for young children to enjoy a day playing in the sand and water.

After a great day of fishing many people like to head into town to try one of the many excellent restaurants. There are a full range of eateries that serve every type of food. Those looking for a traditional steak dinner will not be disappointed. Yet the more adventurous eater will also have plenty of outstanding choices.

Summer is also a great time of year with many fun things to do. Those who enjoy being outdoors will be happy to take part in hiking, bicycle riding and even horse sports. There are a number of horse barns in the area that offer formal lessons and fun trail rides. Many youngsters love to spend a week or two at horse camp during the summer months, learning all about the joys of taking care of one of these beautiful animals.

Visitors to Sault Ste. Marie will find so much to do they will be spoiled for choice. From skiing and ice skating in winter to festivals and concerts in the summer, these twin towns may share a name, but the both have their own unique character. Many people like to spend time in both towns to really experience the best of both American and Canadian culture.
