So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

By Jerri Perry

An antique store can be found in many parts of the world. They can be found online and off. These retail stores specialize in the selling of antiques. The term antique is used to describe a collectible item that is old. These goods are desirable or collected because of its age, unique features, beauty, utility, personal connection, condition or rarity. Generally they represent a previous time period of human society. In common practice, the word antique is only applied to those things that are at least a century, or 100 years, old.

When looking for a shop, individuals are encouraged to search to see what is available in their area. There are plenty of directories that can be used when searching for local shops.

Those who are unable to find a store near them that they like can also do this kind of shopping over the Internet. Many online shops specialize in antiques. Some shops may be included on mall sites, which allow independent sellers to open up shops and sell items within the mall.

Most of the goods found through these stores is sourced from garage sales, auctions, estate sales and flea markets. In some instances, the goods are sent through more than one dealer within a chain before they reach a store. Ever store is expected to have unique items. The prices will range based on a lot of different factors, such as: item rarity, condition and age, seller and location. Some stores may be very inexpensive and others might be highly priced.

Some owners will barter or bargain with customers on the prices but this is not true of everyone. They might also purchase antiques that people are willing to sell. Usually shops are located nearby each other and may even be in the same building. The stores may have a speciality, such as antique jewelry or furniture only. Still most shops have an inventory that includes a range of items and is always changing. Stores may have a physical shop in addition to an e-shop where consumers can browse and make purchases.

While shopping at these stores, people should pay close attention to what goods they are purchasing. Some thing may be very valuable and others not as much. Consider quality and authenticity of items. Not all stores will carry goods that are universally considered antiques.

Make sure you purchase from stores that have a favorable reputation. If possible, read reviews. It is also important that individuals know the worth of goods that they intend to sell to shop owners. Get the item appraised, if possible to find out what it is worth before you attempt to sell it.
