So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Choosing Top Area Rugs Discounted For Affordability And Style

By Jaclyn Hurley

When addressing a room, with regards to the interior design, numerous elements must be individually addressed although there should be a plan for the entire space. In order for it to look great, everything should be accounted, otherwise there could be imbalance, scale, and/or color issues, among others. Flooring is a big issue, and that could be addressed by area rugs discounted for affordability and style.

Flooring includes tiling, wood floors, carpeting, and such. They can try to carry on the show on their own, but they always look best with a rug on top. There are many reasons for this, such as serving great purpose with regards to defining a space. Take for example, an over-sized living room that seems to float about. With a rug, it anchors the furniture and creates instant conversational spaces.

On the other hand, an open concept plan could leave many homeowners or renters feeling lost. This is common in lofts and modern homes, and area rugs can help define particular spaces and their own purpose. For example, a wide open space could be divided accordingly with a rug in each distinct space with ease.

Moreover, homeowners can feel warm under foot. This is especially important in a cold winter months when floors can be quite cold. When this happens, people race over to the thermostat, raising it to provide better comfort. Unfortunately, this also increases energy costs. Therefore, an investment in a rug can keep energy costs low, which is also good for the environment.

Of course, come summertime, with the warmer natural temperatures, some people would choose to remove them completely, leaving a cooler floor underfoot. Others may choose summer rugs with brighter or lighter colors that are more in keeping with warm temperatures. Also, they could be made of cooler fabrics, like cotton. Whatever the case, they are affordable and within the reach of most consumers.

This is as well, an exceptional way to bring texture and pattern to a space. Many are often weary of patterns and tend to stick with solid colors, so this can help address this issue and provide a more professional interior design appearance. Choose from floral or geometric designs to really pack a punch. Alternatively, in a space with lots of pattern, go with a more solid rug to tone things down.

As for materials, they are made with numerous fabric types, from cotton to wool to synthetics, and then some. Jute and sisal make for interesting flooring solutions, or choose from bamboo or leather. The selection is virtually endless. Moreover, there are different piles to add even more texture and interest to a space. Also, one can choose from different shapes and sizes, like oval, circular, octagonal and traditional square and rectangular.

Any room can benefit from an area rug, and without it, it's simply not complete. That said, it's even great on top of an already installed wall to wall carpet. This is especially true if the carpet is a solid color, as is the case in many homes that are decorated conservatively with neutral colors.
