So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

How To Select Appropriate Custom Door Handles

By Jaclyn Hurley

How keen are you about the knobs that are on your doors? Do you really take your time to ensure that this fixture enhances the look and feel of your home? If you are not, you are making the most of it. These days, it is even possible to have custom door handles made that suit the precise type of doors that you have in your home.

In making design choices, it is details like the floor, ceiling and tiles that get most of the attention. Perhaps because of their size, it is assumed that the handle that goes on the doors will have hardly any impact but this is not true. If you would take the time to browse through all the options of handles and knobs available, you would appreciate how much impact they can have.

If you are remodeling every part of your home, one room or specific parts of it like the windows and the doors, keep handles in mind. They can help you achieve just the look that you want. Think about changing every door handle in the house. It is effective and it will not cost you too much. Go for a unique but uniform look by choosing a handle of one color and type of finish.

There is one way to go all out and achieve a unique and striking effect. It is by choosing to have every handle custom made. This means that they are designed just for you in terms of design, size and finish. In this regard, you can visit shops that specialize with handles for doors. You can also choose to visit a blacksmith if you want to have metallic ones made. You can also see a carpenter to get wooden ones carved.

As customized handles for doors have become more popular, there are some types of designs and materials that seem to have won the hearts of many. One top trend is rosettes. Knobs that have rosette designs suit both traditional and ultra-modern designs depending on how the knobs are attached onto them. Rosettes can be used for both metallic and wooden knobs.

There is a favorite shape too and it the oval or egg shape. It is a classic one that works with the majority of designs of doors. With custom made handles, you can choose the size you want. Just be sure the knob fits well in the hand. It should not feel too big or too small.

Europeans prefer a lever design. Lever handles do not require the wrist to be turned to open doors. These too can have rosettes if you so choose such as those with a rectangular shape which bridges the gap between traditional and modern designs. This type of handle is typically found on bathroom doors. If your design approach is minimalist, think about a door knob that has the knob and the lock on the same rosette. A cut glass rosette also works well for a minimalist look.

If you opt to go with custom made door handles, only your imagination limits you. If you can visualize it, it can be made. And you can make a lasting style statement with this seemingly small detail.
