So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Pointers On Collecting Custom Wooden Memory Boxes

By Enid Hinton

A wooden box which is designed for safe storage of keepsakes is not only practical but beautiful. It makes a great accessory for a home as well as a gift. This guide to collecting custom wooden memory boxes includes a range of ideas to help get you started. Read on for some straightforward pointers to shed light on this topic.

One of the more fun and interesting ways to collect this unique type of item is by shopping at antique stores, thrift shops and flea markets. These are great places to spot one of a kind treasures, many of which are old or antique. At these types of venues, you can find lots of examples of wooden memory boxes which have been personalized with initials, artwork or carvings.

Do not forget arts and craft sellers which are yet another venue for finding one of a kind items. For example, you might visit an art gallery or craft shop for handmade boxes to decorate a home. As well, these vendors often give you the opportunity to have an item personalized with a favorite saying, initials or names.

In addition, it is certainly worth thinking about contacting an artist directly to ask about a commissioned item. As a matter of fact, there are many artists who work primarily in wood and who produce keep sake boxes to sell to the public. A simple search online is likely to reveal some examples of artists who are located not far from you.

You may be surprised to find out how elaborate and practical some artists websites are. In fact, many include extensive portfolio photos as well as details for contacting the artist about commissions. Some even include pictures of past commissions and sample rates. These are a good way to get a concrete idea of your options for a commission.

One other place where you may wish to look for this item is a homewares shop. As a matter of fact, there are many well known home furnishing franchises which offer handmade items among their stock. It is even possible to have products customized according to your tastes.

Not to be forgotten, there is also the opportunity to make your very own memory box. In fact, you can find examples of woodworking classes to suit a variety of skill levels at art schools, universities and community centers. Producing a keep sake box is one of the more popular projects for this type of class.

As always, you should make safety your top priority. This applies whether you are looking for a gift or item for yourself at a store, or whether you are making your own box. Only shop with vendors which are reputable, safe and secure for the customer. Equally, learning wood working skills requires that safety is your first priority. For further tips on this topic, you can find online websites and blogs which focus entirely on gift items, including reviews and vendor links. In addition, a homes or decorating magazine is a good place to find product reviews and profiles. Knowing the impressions of other customers can help you to work out which product is right for you.
