So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Interior Design For Restaurants To Consider

By Leslie Ball

Designing the inside of an eatery can be a challenging task, but it makes all the difference in attracting the right type of customer. How a place looks and feel plays a huge part in the impression it gives and the reviews it gets, not just for the food. These ideas on interior design for restaurants will help restaurant owners to choose the best look for the atmosphere they want to offer.

The first thing that will indicate what type of decor will work inside the chosen location is, of course, what type of food is being served. Decide if the key theme should be based on cultural aspects due to type of cuisine. Alternatively, choose the decor based on the type of customer the food is geared towards, for example teenagers or dining for couples.

When serving food from a particular region, you should always aim to combine elements of the culture reflected in the cuisine in the decor. Look through the history and mythology of the country the cuisine comes from to find things to reference when designing the interior. Try to put a modern spin on any cultural aspects.

High ceilings in any space are always great to take advantage of. Install some full-length windows for added drama and enhance the look with elegant chandeliers. A grand location deserves an equally grand colour scheme. Black and white always works well for sophistication and adding a highlight colour like purple or burgundy will add a royal touch, especially with a hints of gold.

Large spaces provide the perfect forum for showing off amazing artwork. Choose conversation pieces so that diners have a good distraction while they wait on their food. Also consider playing with proportion by strategically placing seating of various styles throughout the space. For example, chaise longues work well in the entrance, while plush chairs with beautifully carved armrests add to the grandeur of the dining room. Tables should be sturdy and strong. Consider using lamps instead of candles.

In a smaller restaurant, mirrors are an interior designer's best friend. Mirrors will add the feeling of spaciousness, especially when placed in a strategic way that catches and reflects the light. Using this method eliminates the need for any other decor, particularly if mirrors are placed on the ceiling.

For a restaurant that serves high tea or other interesting and unusual dishes, take inspiration from stories of whimsy and fantasy, like Alice In Wonderland. Colourful geometric patterns and shapes work well for a them like this and there are no holds barred for the type of furniture that can be used. Place key pieces from the story for a hint of the theme, such as a large clock in the style of a pocket watch or tea pots in different sizes.

For a restaurant that has more of a chilled vibe, muted colours and dark tones are best. Particularly for an underground artistic crowd, black and white photography on the walls or other interesting modern artwork will add a lot of ambiance. Think about creating a separate space where diners can express themselves while they wait, such as a doodle wall or photography booth.
