So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

What To Look For In Modern Barn Door Hardware

By Joanna Walsh

Interior design is always evolving. Sometimes, new trends are actually fads that fade away after a short period of time, while others become classic additions in the industry. One such classic addition has become a barn door installation in a home of any design scheme. So many have seen its beauty and have wanted to include it in their own homes, but it's important to understand how to choose modern barn door hardware accordingly.

For the most part, these tracking kits are made of steel because they must be sturdy enough to ensure the heavy weight that they are meant to hold. The key to modern design is about choosing high polish finishes, and this element could follow suit. Therefore, in this case, one should aim to choose high polished steel.

That would be the norm, but with regards to interior design rules, they are meant to be broken or at least bent on occasion. In doing so, the designer accomplishes making the space more appealing and interesting. Take for example a space where there is an excessive amount of high polish. Very easily, it can get tiresome. Therefore, it's good to offset it by choosing something that lacks the high polish.

This is where contrast comes into play in making home design more interesting and more successful. While many people will add an actual barn door in their space, there are other options, where someone can choose something more modern, as with one large or several small glass inserts. The glass adds more polish, and enough glamor, and therefore the homeowner could choose a brushed nickel or steel to offset the high polish.

While in the past no one would ever think of such an element being found in some of the most affluent homes in America. However, the latest trend in design has to do with blending a coastal Native American theme with a Victorian style. That said, one could also opt for a contemporary flat black option, right down to the unfinished rustic option in hardware.

What's important is to choose the product that's right for the door chosen for this entrance. That means, the homeowner needs to choose a track system that won't warp, so it has to withstand the weight of the exposed door. It has to be good quality so that it can glide or roll from one side to the other without being noisy.

The end result will be an elegant and outstanding design feature, which will oddly enough, provide a more sophisticated look in the space. One of the most interesting features of this element is that it is a space saving one, since it requires no clearance space. As it runs on a track mounted on a wall, there is required to open or close the door.

This is also a wonderful solution for dividing an interior space. Beyond that, I can be used to hide an unsightly storage room or utility room, or perhaps even a closet. The bottom line is that this is a practical installation that can benefit homeowners in so many ways. For example, since what's mounted on this tracking system is usually an impressive piece of work, comparable to a work of art, it's always on display. It's an easy way to create a beautiful focal point, too.
