So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

With so many health trends and fads, its hard to keep up. One that is making waves and becoming more popular is eating all raw. That means eating raw vegetables and getting leaves and seeds and berries to add to your meals.

Nature has its own medicine and cures to offer. When you buy wild edible plants of California, you can have seeds and berries that will give you vitamins and minerals. You will be amazed at what you can find when you walk around your neighborhood.

There are nurseries that sell plants retail or wholesale. You can find them online. If they are too far from where you live since many are in Northern California you can buy them online and have it delivered to your home. You can also find places in other parts of the state that sell edible plants.

It is good to use a nursery to buy your seedlings and pods because you are guaranteed safe nontoxic plants. It is not advisable to try and pick out the plants by yourself in the wild. They could grow next to similar looking vegetation that may be poisonous.

If you do your research, you will find that nature has its own cures and therapies to heal you. You can find plenty of books and web sites that can give you information on the healing properties of plants. There are some that can treat a cold or sore throat. There are others that can prevent diseases.

Commonly treated as an invasive weed, asiatic dayflower is actually popular in Asia. Every part from the stem to the flowers and leave can be eaten. It has anti inflammatory and can treat tonsillitis. This can be eaten raw or you can cook it and add it to your soups. This can be found in many places throughout the state.

If you like chocolate, you should try carob. It comes from a tree and it takes a year for the pod to be ripe. When it is ripe it is brown. It is natures sweetener. It can be used for baking vegan recipes for cake and cookies. Mixed in a smoothie, it is also very tasty. You can find many health food recipes to make delicious meals and desserts. They are low calorie so you can indulge while keeping trim and fit.

In the state of California, elderberries are well known. They can be used for jams, infusions, and even wine. The key thing to remember is that only fully ripe berries must be consumed. You can be poisoned by eating unripe or green berries. Olives may not be thought of as an edible plant but these trees are commonly found in the San Fernando Valley. These cannot be eaten straight from the tree because they are bitter. They must go through a curing process for a few days to a few week so that the bitterness will be removed.

You can visit and botanical garden or nurseries and choose the varieties you want. You can grow your own plants at home and that way you will have it on hand to use in your meals. Having your own herbs seeds and leaves is useful. You can heal yourself without using pills and chemicals when you study the uses of each variety of leaf or seed.
