So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Information On Protective Coating In Williston

By Mattie Knight

Protective coatings also commonly called industrial coatings are coatings that serve protection purposes when applied on items or surfaces. Most applications are found in industrial settings with lesser use in residential settings. Protection is higher on the priority list of the manufacturers than the aesthetic function. However, it has been shown that achieving both functions is possible. One can purchase protective coating in Williston from a wide number of stores that sell them at affordable prices.

In industrial applications, corrosion control is the main use for which protective coatings are meant. Most structures and surfaces they are applied on are made of steel. Such structures include offshore installations and underground pipes. Proper application can help increase the durability of the structure to a great extent. Efficiency at improving durability of structures has been determined to be great.

Protection by protective coatings is against several elements. Sun radiation, ice, water, and soil are the main ones. Manufacturers had these elements as the main ones against which protection was necessary and feasible. Today, however, fire has been added to the list as a result of more research and technological advancement. Interior and exterior surfaces are both painted when protection is meant to be against fire.

As such, the coats gained use on structures for purposes of fire resistance. Lack of fuels or combustible substances is the source of fire resistance capability. The coats never catch fire when houses burn as opposed to conventional paints. This is a safety feature that has attracted more use in home settings. The increased use in homes has led to incorporation of aesthetics to make them more appealing to homeowners. Now they are available in many colors for people to select from.

The application process of conventional paints and industrial coatings seems to be similar in some ways. For instance, they all involve preparation of the surfaces onto they are applied. Such preparation is meant to eliminate all kinds of dirt that can lower the strength of the bond formed. Traditionally, abrasive sandblasting is the method used. Undesired materials removed include mold, graffiti, dirt, old paint, and dust.

There are many kinds of abrasives used for this purpose. Examples are water, sand, ice, steel shot, and grit. The choice of abrasive is dependent on the nature of the surface and the expected results. Besides removing unwanted substances from the surface, abrasive sandblasting also makes it rough to allow for strong bond formation with the primer.

The primer is applied when the surface has been prepared well. The primer wets surfaces for the next layer to be applied on. It also creates a base for the other layers. There are many substances that make the primer, but the main ones are epoxy zinc, inorganic zinc silicate, and general epoxy polyamide.

Second to the primer is usually an intermediate that builds thickness and prevents permeability on surfaces. General epoxy polyamide is one of the major components that make this coat. The final layer is the top coat, which serves more of an aesthetic function and creates chemical resistance.
