So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Searching For Home Brewing Supplies

By Jason Scott

Home brewing has been a popular hobby for many years all over the world and continues to rise in popularity. As well as the raw ingredients needed to make your own beer or wine there is a certain amount of equipment that is required. When buying home brewing supplies there are two main sources to purchase what you need.

There are suppliers to be found in most towns and cities that stock everything needed for beer and wine making. These stores are a great place to source items particularly for newcomers to the hobby. The experienced staff in these establishments will be able to advise and steer you in the right direction when deciding what is needed and what to spend.

The second place to source ingredients and kits is from an online retailer and there are hundreds to choose from. These sites are an excellent way of buying everything you need from raw ingredients to brew kettles, bottles, caps and filtration systems. Some internet sites also feature online tutorial videos, books and recipes from experienced brewers.

Creating one's own wines and beers does not necessarily have to be an expensive pastime. A simple start up kit to make stouts, lagers or dark beers can cost as little as 50 dollars and contains all you need to make a gallon or so. Wine making kits are also readily available and reasonably priced at around the 30 dollar mark.

For the more advanced makers there are thousands of products available to give a more professional result. Bottles, cappers and labels can be found so that your unique brew can be personalized and is a great idea if giving it away as a gift. For advanced wine makers oak barrels are offered for sale to mature your wines in thirty or fifty gallon sizes.

A lot of people after starting out with kit form brewing will decide to have a go at creating their own unique product. Many things are available on the market to help with this such as malt extracts and specialist hop mixes. A great deal of websites will also have forums or chat sites so that enthusiasts can share their knowledge with each other and compare notes on technique.

A recent trend in the beer making field has been the emergence of micro breweries and this is a growing industry. Many hobbyists decide to progress and use the skills they have learned to open a small business and sell their products and this involves buying more complex equipment. When setting up a brewery in the home things such as filtration systems and sanitization rooms are needed as well as larger kettles and vats.

A lot of home brewers on a tight budget can also choose to buy pre-owned equipment and accessories. This is of course a cheaper alternative than buying brand new items but bear in mind that due to the pressure contained within kegs and brew kettles all seals and valves will need to be checked for safety. Stores and online retailers who offer used gear for sale will usually have checked and made good all recycled items they have in stock.
