So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

Understanding How Pile Drivers Used

By Jennifer Allen

In the field of construction there is a definite need for heavy equipment that is dependable. The tools most used have been around for years and are known as pile drivers. There are a number of variations of this tool that continues to be in use all over the world. It is important to know the different types of this device to get an understanding of what it can do.

This form of construction equipment is much older than most realize. Evidence indicates that it has been in existence for more than five hundred years. In addition, some evidence indicates mechanical types date back more than 5000 years. The most similar device to modern equipment is derived from the steam powered tool invented in the 1800s.

It is important to know that this equipment is a device that forces poles into the ground. These poles are known as piles. The poles are used to add support to the foundation of a building structure. Basically the tool uses a weight that is placed on a pole, raised in the air and drives it into the ground. The construction industry has used this device for years.

There have always been different versions of this tool in existence since its inception. The variations have mostly involved the source of power used to operate the tool in addition to the method of use. With improvements in technology, several versions of the tool have been recycled over the years. New technology has made this device more effective in large scale projects.

An example of the variations is the hammer fueled by diesel. This device consists of cylinders and weighted pistons. It is a larger two stroked engine fueled by diesel. A weight is dropped that causes fuel to be released and that drives the piston. As fuel heats up and combusts the piston is pulled back and this cycle repeats. This device is used non stop until fuel runs out or the job is complete.

The diesel fluid device was once more popular than it is now. The reason for the decline in use is that the equipment is very loud and impacts the environment adversely. The vertical travel lead is another tool with adjustable pistons that make it possible for use for many different projects. In the United States, this tool is standard and once played an important role in the building of railroads.

Hydraulic hammers are todays version of the original tool that operated with diesel fuel. This tool produces less noise and poses less of an environmental hazard. It is particularly useful for larger projects. Additionally, this hammer produces less pollution than the diesel operated tool because it uses hydraulics rather than fuel. Since the parts constantly move and bang, it does produce a lot of noise.

There are also the hydraulic press in, vibrating driver extractor, and the piling rig. The press in is used in areas where hydraulic and diesel hammers can be problematic. The vibrating driver used for construction of bridges. A piling rig is for foundations. This tool is very complex and has numerous variations and is still a very important tool in the construction industry.
