So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Home Diy Beer Brewing Kits

By Laura Perry

When using your home brew beer kit, what you do during the brewing and fermentation stage can mean the difference between a merely adequate beer or something truly spectacular. Off flavors and aromas or even undrinkable beer can result from a simple misstep. It is written that there are 4 factors which must be controlled in the fermentation process to achieve the best-tasting beer: brewing and fermentation temperature, the volume of yeast used, the volume of oxygen in the wort and fermentability of the wort. We would add sanitation and length of fermentation as equally important factors, especially when considering home DIY beer brewing kits.

Alcohol brewing domestically is not just a pastime but also a way to increase your self-confidence while enjoying yourself with your very own brew. To get a good grasp of making alcohols, you only need to figure out the purpose of the alcohol ingredients and what is required of you as far as finishing the job right is concerned.

After perfecting the process of making your alcohol, you will undoubtedly create a alcohol flavor that you can truly enjoy along with family and friends. All of us possess our own unique and personal taste preferences, and as you alter, adjust, and tweak the variety of available recipes, it is possible to brew a alcohol that is perfect for your taste.

Most kits supply fermenting containers made out of food grade plastic. This is great for the beginning brewer as it provides a kit at an extremely affordable price point. However, plastic is prone to tiny scratches which can harbor bacteria, molds, fungi and other contaminants.

Next, you need ingredients. Beginning home preparing ingredient kits exist to make the process stripped down and simplified--you first must learn the basics of the process of home preparing. Once you have that understanding down, then you can learn about using different ingredients and utilizing different techniques to exert more control over the final product.

Inevitably, you will discover that you prefer a particular type of alcohol to the degree that you may want to specialize in making your alcohol all the time in your favorite, preferred category. This will also leave you with a dilemma in which you will need to make labels for your alcohol to denote one type of alcohol from the other.

Volume of Oxygen in the Wort- Oxygen is both the friend and enemy to the fermentation process. Yeast requires oxygen but the wort must not oxidize. This is why you do not pour hot wort into cold water, to prevent oxidation. So how do you get the proper amount of oxygen dissolved in your fermentation water?

The process of home preparing starts with first making sure all your home preparing equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized--these are not the same. Cleaning and sanitizing are two different steps, but both steps must be done to ensure that your alcohol does not become contaminated by bacteria and germs. After proper cleaning and sanitizing, the alcohol preparing starts with the boil.
