So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Health Experts Choose Grass Fed Beef And Pork Over Cheap Brands

By Andrew White

For those who are into cooking, it seems to be a new innovation on the market but look up close and one will find this to be hardly the case. In some instances, it is more like what is old is new again, as the natural and organic food movement sometimes promotes. The only that separates some food items is the processing, as in less is more. Good examples are grass fed beef and pork, as well as poultry and some seafood.

Anyone who likes the extra fat marbling in their meat may be in for initial disappointment but their heart will thank them. The reason is this type of meat contains more monounsaturated fat and less saturated fat, the latter has been linked to many diseases like high cholesterol. While some people believe that pork itself leads to circulatory issues, lean cuts are a great source of protein.

Preparation of these proteins is also important. Broiling or grilling gives it a nice sear and allows the extra fat to drip away. Many benefit from a dry rub or marinade that is low in sodium and sugar. This is ideal for those who do not have a lot of time to prepare meals after a long day.

It is also important to monitor cooking time. If the fire is too high, it can result in a chewy texture. If someone wants their beef cooked well, using low heat or baking may be best.

Although the cost may be slightly higher, it should be comforting to know that the difference is in the quality. Anyone who shops online may find a deal with a reputable butcher, who can alert as to when a grass fed product is going on sale. Another suggestion would be to inquire with supermarkets or outdoor vendors to find out if there is any product that needs to be moved quickly.

However, when it comes to health, cutting corners does not always pay off. While there is nothing wrong with eating grain fed beef, chicken, or pork, there are many nutritious properties, like Omega 3, that can make a difference when there is a health concern. Grass fed meats also contain vitamins A and E, along with other antioxidants.

If cost, nutrition, and taste are concerns of the consumer, there are other solutions to consider such as mixing grain and grass versions. This is a great way to combine juicy texture with lean meat and save money. Although beef is high in vitamin b vitamins, anyone with health concerns should consider adding more nutrient rich foods to every meal. These should include but are not limited to, dark, leafy vegetables, whole grain products, and other plant based foods.

Additionally, eating more plants is good for humans and livestock alike. No one wants to eat something that is high in fat every day. Even better no one is truly happy when they have a lot of bulk to carry around their body. Being lean can also protect the immune system, as this type of meat is less likely to be linked to disease found in many beef and poultry products.
