So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

By Anna Morris

These days, cooking as seen as less of a chore and more of a recreational activity. One reason is that there are many ways to look at home cooking. While the most common are the creative expression or to save money, there is also a new genre that is becoming more popular. Couples of all ages and backgrounds are finding ways to bond over romantic dinner recipes that can be made in any kitchen.

If two people are great cooks, there may be an abundance of recipes to try. Even if a couple enjoys eating the same type of food, learning how to make this instead of eating out can offer many benefits, For one, it allows privacy and the learning process can be a lot of fun for those willing to give it a shot.

The first thing to decide is what to cook. Although some couples may go for something that is fairly simple, like spaghetti, a little adventure never hurts. Sometimes it can be fun to make a list of favorite foods and finding what would be the easiest to prepare. This can also be a great way to discover continental dishes. For instance, those who like their meals herbal but substantial may want to look into Tuscan Italian cuisine.

Sometimes cooking in a kitchen outside of the home may be the best choice when trying something new or different as a couple. Short term cooking classes are usually held in a number of venues, like a commercial kitchen and cooking schools. These are ideal for amateurs but there are some themed classes that focus on a particular dish or method. One advantage is that the food and supplies are included in the cost.

For those seeking a more intimate experience, some specialty grocers have staff that is trained to give suggestions and feedback on certain foods. Some of these places also have recipes on their website or as a free hardcopy handout. Shopping allows couples to create their own night by choosing the beverages and desserts.

When time is tight, some couples may choose to visit their favorite bakery or grocery store to buy dessert or a favorite side dish. Making a full course meal can be labor intensive for experienced cooks but sharing the duties can allow time for conversation and a few drinks in between. This is why it is not really cheating when couples are starting to prepare meals together.

Meats that are already cut and trimmed are the best choice. For most dishes, crushed garlic in a jar is better than using garlic salt or powder. The produce section may have vegetables that have already been cut. These are just some of the shortcuts that people take when they are new to cooking or just want to save time.

Cooking can be a lot of fun for couples but sometimes it is the learning process that can encourage intimacy. Sometimes partners may have a few drinks during the preparation or share a light appetizer while food is cooking. Tasks may be done simultaneously or coordinated to save time. Whatever method works best, it just helps to keep an open mind and celebrate any culinary milestones that come along the way.
