So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Rubs And Seasonings Are Better Than Measuring Ingredients

By Frank Anderson

Most people realize they would be more receptive more often if there were not so many steps involved. That and the preparation are normally the most consuming parts of cooking meals for the household. The good news is that it does not have to be this way, as chopped or prepared vegetables can be found at most supermarkets. Many home cooks are also discovering the beauty of using rubs and seasonings to flavor entrees and side dishes.

Although some who are learning their way around the kitchen may not know about organizing, there are many ways to keep these fresh. Those seasonings and spices that fill the air with aroma will keep that same fresh scent when they are stored properly. Even if a person has a small kitchen, there is an inexpensive solution.

There are many inexpensive premixed seasonings and spices on the market but the majority of these contain salt and fillers. For those who are picky about their flavors, going cheap is a waste of time because experienced cooks end up adding more to the recipe. So the best measure is to seek a brand that values quality first.

Most people tend to think that a rub can only be used for cooking over a fire. However, these are suitable for oven cooking. The intense flavor is ideal for giving steaks and large pieces of poultry a little kick. Many home cooks find the flavor to be so powerful that there is no need to add gravy or sauce to their entree.

Investing in a countertop storage caddy or installing a cabinet spice rack may be the answer. Those with ample cabinet space may want to try out risers that elevate items so they are easy to see upon opening. If neither option is possible, adding a spice rack or organizer to wall space using removable adhesive may be an idea.

If a person does not know where to start, the basics like salt, pepper, and garlic or onion powder are good starting points. From there, a person can assess whether they prefer savory over spicy, or a little of both. One advantage to creating a customized spice rack is to know that everything will be put to good use.

Using premixes seasonings can save busy cooks a lot of time. Rubs are growing in popularity with those who eat animal protein. Although some like to use these for grilling meats, most home cooks realize that these work just as well with oven or stovetop cooking.

Using different flavors in cooking is what brings a little excitement to the table. By using a quality product, it normally does not take much so there is little room for failure. Anyone who is willing to learn about food types and flavor profiles realizes that they can have a lot of fun trying out new things. Whatever the outcome, it is less expensive and much healthier than eating out every day.
