So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Here are some tricks on how to squeeze out as much money as possible from donors.

Invite the right people to your event. This means inviting people who care about your cause. They should also have the financial capacity to give. For instance, people who care about your cause include people who are subscribed to your newsletter, your social media followers and even guests who have attended your past events. Also, have your team strategically come up with a list of high priority people, who you might approach. Don't just invite anyone.

It is also imperative that you advertise your event using the right channels, so as to create as much awareness as possible about the event. This makes people understand why they are coming for the event. Use different channels of communication, so that many people can know when and where the event will be. Build up anticipation and make people get excited about coming to the event.

During the day of the event, avoid getting distracted by other minor things. Instead, focus on the main reason why you are there, which is to raise funds. It is best that you carry out the main event first before moving on to other activities for the day, which can include entertainment.

Use technology to your advantage. For instance, make your work easier by allowing guests to pre-register for the event. If you are having an auction, guests can even check out what items will be auctioned on that night. Do not limit your donations to just those that are given during your events. You can rope in more donors through other ways. For instance, use online platforms to allow you to accept money online. This way, people can donate from wherever they are in the world at anytime.

Do not limit the donation day to just one day when you will be having the event. This can seriously limit the amount of money that you receive. The best thing is to give people as much time as possible to give their donations. For instance, allow them to give a few days or weeks leading up to the day of the main event. Also, allow them to give even after the main event has been held. This is in case someone wants to give but might not have the money to give right away or they might have forgotten to give on the main day of the event.

Keep your major donors engaged. People who are committed to your cause might not just want to give money, but also help you to raise more support. Give them the opportunity to do this. For instance, allow them to recruit other donors or act as community leaders. In addition, hold a series of activities to keep them busy and also send them newsletters with regular updates about what is going on with the cause.
