If you are like most people, we spend a large amount of our free time in the bathroom. Although women are more likely than men to enjoy the benefits of a nice long soak in a bath, more men than ever have admitted to soaking in the bath at least three times a week. Therefore, it is of no surprise that one should take their time in selecting out the perfect bathtub for their respective house.
If you are remodeling or rennovating your existing bathroom or building your own custom home, you should think long and hard about the size, shape, color and other features of your bathtub. Obviously, you can only work with the space provided to you in your house, apartment or condominium - but you will be surprised with the options afforded to you now.
The first thing will obviously be the size of the bathtub. Most likely you will be somewhat limited on the size of the bathtub based upon the size of your bathroom. Additionally, the larger the bathtub, the more expensive it will be to purchase and maintain as a result of more water and higher electrical bills because you will need to use more energy to heat up the water. Nowadays, you have the option of a single person bathtub or even a two-person bathtub. Personally, if you are lucky enough to have the room, I prefer the two-person bathtub for all of the obvious reasons. Whichever size you choose, always be aware that the size is large enough to support your entire body including your back, neck and head.
Next thing to consider will be the color of the bathtub. You do not need to be an interior designer to know that the color of yourbathtub should match the colors of your bedroom and most importantly your bathroom. The nice thing about bathtubs is that you are no longer limited to just the plain, porcelain, white tub anymore. There is a wide variety of colorss that you will be able to choose from. You can choose bold and vivid colors like green, red, blue, pink or green or stay more traditional with the light brown, typical white or off-white colors.
The last thing you will need to decide on is the features of your bathtub. Like most items out there, you have a wide variety of different features that come with the bathtubs. A few of my favorite extra features are whirlpools, jet streams, walk-in bath tubs, free standing tubs (i.e., not attached to the floor) and traditional Japanese deep bathtubs that come with mini massagers. The walk in tubs are basically tubs that have a door you open and walk through and then shuts behind you before you start running the water. This is very handy for senior citizens or for those with certain handicaps.
I think most of us will agree that a big long soak inside a tub is a great way to finish off the day after working hard or playing sports. Therefore, before you select a tub, be sure to take the above items into consideration and do not skimp on your quality of life!
