So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Wood Flooring In Your Home

By Janine Porter

The ways you can go about decorating your house are enormously varied in number but it is often too easy to forget the floor. There are myriad ways you can do the floor but consider the possibilities of natural materials. Wood in particular offers a lot of variety in how it looks, as the color range goes from white to black and every variation of cream through dark brown in between. This means that, regardless of how you intend to decorate the rest of the room, you can find a color of wood that will suit what you want to do above the floor.

The advantages of using wood compared to stone and ceramic include the fact that you can match your flooring to your furniture no matter what tint your furniture is. Your furniture can compliment your floor. You don't need to spend hours or days trying to find out which color to go with just compliment the furniture.

Wood flooring also has another important advantage over other natural materials in that it is naturally a much warmer material than stone or ceramic tiles, although not as warm as carpet. This means that when it is hot, the floor is cool to walk on and when it is cold the floor is relevantly warm, without you having to invest in underfloor heating, which is not such a good idea with a wooden floor anyway.

You have the possibilities of creating designs in the flooring when you lay it down. You can varnish the flooring or stain it, or choose not to do either. If you are looking for a rustic look try sanding the floors and leaving them alone. For sophistication you want to varnish or stain the wood. When laying the wood down on the floor you can lay the wood boards long ways or you can lay them in tiles. You can cut the tiles in any shape and size. Choosing a simple floor design is what most people do. Remember the more simple it looks the better.

Add an area rug on top of the wood flooring. You can use an area rug to section off a large room. Add an area rug down and place a table on top to show where the dining room is. An area rug will add color and pattern to your room. Create a rustic or modern look by placing a wood flooring down in your home.
