So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Cheap Ways to Secure Your Home

By Martin Elmer

Your home can never be secured entirely. But you can make it so difficult for the burglar, that he chooses another house instead. And it does not have to cost anything at all.

The easiest way to avoid a break-in is to hide, that you are not home. First of all you should vary your routines, so it is not easy to know, what time of the day or night that you are away. It might sound difficult, but it can help a lot, if you just vary your departure time and arrival time just a little bit every day.

If you are on vacation for a longer time, it is best to stop the delivering of mail and newspaper. If your mail box is filled with post, it is easy for the thief to see, that you are away. You can also arrange with the neighbor, that he will park the car the car in front of your house sometimes. Do also make arrangement about mowing the lawn and removing the snow.

And finally do not write on Facebook, Twitter when you will be away; especially if you have an open profile that everybody can read. The thief is also beginning to use a computer, when they are searching for house to break into.

A simple but effective way to keep the thieves away is light. Obvious places to break in should always be well lighted. It is also a good idea to place floodlight on the corner of your house, so the wall are flooded with light. Then it is difficult for the burglar to hide.

You can also use light in another way, to protect you from break-ins. Buy a plug-in timers, so you automatically can turn the light on and off. Then the burglar will never know, if you are home or not. Just make sure, that you vary the on and off time, so it is not obvious, that you are doing it with an automatic timer.

Put a large padlock on the shed, and do not leave the ladders outside. Often the thieves do not bring any tools themselves. Instead they use the things, people kindly has left outside their house. Do not be one of the fools, who provide them with the necessary equipment.

Many burglars use the window to get into the house. So if you can protect your windows, you can avoid many break-ins. You can use a simple steal bolt or rod to make sure that the window cannot be opened more than a few inches (to get fresh air in the night). And it is easily removed, if you need to open the window more.

You can protect yourself even more by investing in security cameras and alarm systems. And then a final obvious advice; remember to lock the door and close the windows, when you are away.
