So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Great Garden Gifts For That Special Girl

By Susan York

People all across the United States have begun planting gardens to help save money and provide food for their families. Many people, also, garden as a hobby and not for necessity. It is often difficult to find an appropriate gift for family or friends when holidays or birthdays come around. This year, with the renewed interest in gardening, select garden gifts for all your gifts.

Some of the people you want to buy gifts for may have a desire to garden, but they don't know how to start. A simple garden tool set would be just the gift they need. One of the nicer beginning sets is an apron with reinforced pockets that hold three gardening tools. A more sophisticated tool gift could include a fold up gardening chair with an attached bag that has a variety of garden tools in it. There are also different styles of gardener bags that have more tools in them.

A special gift for a new gardener who is just starting out is a gift planter that includes different items that would help the person get started. This type of gift is already made up in the store, and all you have to do is choose the one you like best.

You can make up a lovely gift by yourself by using a basket, a planter, a bucket or any other type of large container. Fill the container with items for their garden. You can include a garden accessory, gardening books on different subjects, flower and vegetable seeds, a knee pad or anything else you think the person would enjoy. You can even fill the container with enjoyable food snacks, such as cheese and crackers, if you want to. Be sure to add a pretty bow to finish it off.

Other simple gifts can be vegetables, herbs, fruits or flowers from your own garden. You can make up a basket with an assortment of vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers or you can give a smaller basket with just one kind of fruit or vegetable. You can buy an open basket with a handle and no sides and lay long-stemmed flowers across it. Your imagination is the limit with this style of garden gift.

There are many garden items you can browse through when you are looking for a gift. There are wind chimes, planters, stepping stones, tools, bird houses and rain gauges, just to name a few. Choose something you think your friend would enjoy.

Garden gifts are the most practical gifts you can give, and they will be greatly appreciated. There are many varieties of gifts you can choose from in the stores, and if you can't find something appropriate in the stores, create your own gardening gift.
