So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Engagement Rings - The Pledge Of Love And Marriage

By Fred Gagnon

Engagement rings are a symbol of the promise of marriage, love and acceptance. This type of jewelry represents and symbolically expresses the relationship between a man and his bride-to-be. Symbolizing lifelong commitment, engagement rings mark a new beginning in a couple's life.

Given after a marriage proposal is accepted, an engagement ring is a pledge of love and marriage. It socially declares that a woman is soon to be married and no longer available to be courted by other men. It is often worn in the left-hand ring finger as it is believed to have the "vein of love" or vena amoris. Both men and women can wear engagement rings, though they are usually seen on women.

Rings of plain gold, iron and silver have been used as engagement rings for centuries. There are various versions to the history of the tradition of wearing an engagement ring. In 1215, Pope Innocent III is said to declare the use of engagement rings to have longer waiting period for betrothal and marriage.

Since, most engagement rings are designed with gemstones, finding the right setting is important. An engagement ring setting refers to the mounting which attach the gemstone to the ring's band. Its main purpose is to prevent loss and damage of the gemstones in the ring.

Here are the different types of engagement ring settings: channel setting, bezel setting, prong settings, pave setting, flush setting, tension setting, invisible setting, bar setting, illusion setting, flat-top and bead setting, and gypsy setting. Engagement ring settings highlight the gemstones by adding sparkle and shine to them.

It's hard to choose an engagement ring because you need to consider its shape, the setting, the choice of metal and the gemstones. It is also important to know your jewelry taste and the budget. The emotions and sentiments that go with it also matter. On top of all this is the love and thought an engagement ring conveys.

We believe that an engagement ring should not be too expensive. It must be of high quality, elegant, unique, beautiful, and affordable.
