So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Gift Baskets For Women - Best Gift Ideas For Your Loved Ones

By Helen Carswell

Gift baskets for women say, "I'm thinking of you." "I care about you." Or, "I love you." And who among us does not long to be thought of, cared about, and loved? All women -- wives, teachers, lovers, business associates, girlfriends -- appreciate a gift basket. And if there are a lot of women in your life, you can have all the fun of choosing the many ways to make them feel special.

Any day is a great day to give a gift basket but some days just should not be missed. Special "personal days" include her birthday and wedding anniversary. And then there are universally recognized "special days" including Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, and Christmas.

The gift basket you give should contain special items in tune with the event the basket acknowledges. Are you going to a baby shower? Your basket might hold such welcome necessities as a pacifier, baby bottle, bibs, rattles, and more.

If romance is in the air, think CHOCOLATE. Women love gift baskets filled with chocolates and sparkling wine. We like Harry & David Chocolate Covered Cherries Harry and Gloria Ferrer Brut sparkling wine.

Should you be going to a housewarming party, bring a gift basket full of nice treats for the new homeowners. They will say "Thanks!" during a break from moving boxes. Include coffee, chocolate, their favorite cookies, pretzels, cheese and crackers, and tea. A six-pack of micro brew beer is a nice touch, too.

How about the bride-to-be? Your basket can be designed to give both the future Mr. and Mrs. a welcome break from their hectic schedule. We find a "breakfast for two" basket to be a very welcome gift. Pack two coffee mugs, gourmet coffee, pancake mix, and pure maple syrup. Add a red rose and your gift is complete.

And what woman does not love to be pampered? The ultimate gift baskets for women are the ones that pamper. Try a "spa basket" containing unique personal items that make a woman look and feel beautiful all over with moisturizing creams, nail moisturizers, scrubs, and ointments. Add some extras: a nice pair of slippers, a pumice stone, nail clippers, current issues of women's magazines and maybe a trashy novel!

Of course reasons to give gift baskets go on and on and so do the occasions to give them. But there is a simple question you will need to ask yourself first, "Shall I assemble the gift basket myself, or purchase it pre-made?"

We suggest you put the basket together yourself. A personally-made basket is considerably more touching than any you could buy. First, buy a fine-quality basket at your local florist or home store. Line it with tissue paper or lovely fabric, then arrange the personal gift items you have chosen. Tie with a ribbon and add a gift card. Wrap in cellophane or simply leave it as-is.

Naturally, purchasing a pre-made gift basket is simpler, but the cost can be prohibitive. You have thousands of choices. Google "Gift Baskets." Even though you lose the personal touch, pre-packaged gift baskets are an excellent choice for both you and the one to whom you give the gift. You shop online or in a store and have your purchase shipped automatically. And your recipient will be all smiles when the doorbell rings and she finds your gift basket on her doorstep.
