So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Shopping For Gourmet Food Gift Baskets

By Tabatha Mitchell

It used to be pretty common to give out gift baskets full of foods. Remember the cheese log, covered in sliced nuts? Those little cheese wheels that came in a red wax covering? Or how about even the processed sausages?Or my all-time favorite, the pre-processed sausages. These gift baskets were common during the holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, anytime that someone wanted to show how much they cared about someone. Naturally, they were never very popular. Who wants a gift made of cheese and sausages? And besides, they were almost always last minute gifts anyway.

Well times, they are a-changin'. Suddenly the baskets full of the same contents year-in and year-out were gone, replaced by the same idea only, fresher! These are the new gourmet food gift baskets, and are as unique as the people you would buy them for. You can order them with fresh food this time around! Fruits, cheeses and crackers that weren't around when the first Ford Mustang rolled off the assembly line. Gourmet coffees, available ground or whole bean. Wines, alcoholic drink mixers, and teas. The assortment is limited only by your imagination.

Pay attention to the delivery date when you order gourmet food baskets online. It would be a shame to order a whole elaborate basket, only to find that the food has spoiled or is not in the best of shape by the time it arrives, but you also do not want to do it too soon because it takes time to prepare. Pick a happy medium to ensure that everything is in working and to make sure that the gift basket is as high quality as possible.

Of course, you can always go with pre-made baskets which come in several themes. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day and Christmas are some pre-made food gift baskets. But don't worry about poor quality: really good gift basket companies stand by their products and most of them, even pre-made, are very fresh and delicious.

Some companies allow you to choose a pre-made basket and have a list of items ready to swap in or out of your gourmet food gift basket at your choice. There are also companies that even make the basket itself very important, and not just a plain basket. You can get tins instead of baskets, which can be purchased in a huge variety of themes and are great to give to sports enthusiasts or other hobbyists. The styling and individuality in each basket makes giving a blast.

If you want to take it a bit further, you can even find true gourmet gift baskets, which can have foods styled after recipes from world famous chefs -- that are great for any cooking enthusiasts. These types of baskets do not come with pre-made foods, but rather the ingredients and instructions to get the recipient really into the cooking mood.
