So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

How To Use That New Espresso Maker

By Pete Phaedrus

When looking at an espresso machine for the first time it can be a bit intimidating. But you do not need to be a barista to enjoy a great cup of coffee from home. Just follow a few rather simple steps and you will be on your way to delicious home brewed espresso in no time.

The first thing to be done is to examine the outside of the machine. Notice where the steam wand and the brewing pot are, other features too like where to add the water. The wand itself is made of metal and is protruding from the machine somewhere. The brewing pot is latched into place somewhere on the machine as well and usually has some kind of a handle attached to it. All of these features have some way to turn them on and off located near them.

Now that you are familiar with the machine, you can try to make your very first cup of espresso. Screw off the cap on top of the machine and add the desired amount of water. Be careful not to remove the cap after having recently made a drink as it will be filled with steam. This steam could cause severe burns to the face and hands. Take care when adding water not to overfill as this can cause there to be too much pressure inside the machine.

After the water has been added the grounds can be added to the filtering mechanism. Use only espresso grind beans and make sure they are packed firmly into the filter. Remove the excess coffee grinds and then place the filter in its spot. Place a cup into the machine and turn on the brewing switch. It should not be long before fresh espresso begins to flow into the cup.

When the drink has finished brewing take the drink. If steamed milk is desired, pour it into a metal container and place it under the steam wand. Turn it on and slowly stir the milk with he wand as the steam from the brewing process heats the milk. Turn off the switch and add the milk to the drink.

Just remember to be careful when operating an espresso machine. Check for any warnings or indicators that may signal that the machine is still hot. When finished, be sure to turn the switches off and take proper care of the machine. A clean machine is a happy one.
