So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

By Jane Green

Its easy to see why we to fall into a habit, doing the same familiar things over and over. Its the safety of knowing you can do whatever it is and do it well. The down side of this is you can begin to get into a routine that becomes dull and you end up considering why it is you are doing what you do.

This is something that can happen a lot with rose quilt designs, you can wind up making numerous quilts that end up looking the same and finally lose motivation to do another one. Well, now's the time to break that cycle and the simplest way to do that's by working with with a fresh design, so here's a few:

Chequered Roses Pattern

Like a patchwork style quilt, a chequered rose pattern is something that isn't commonly done with roses. So why not incorporate a few into the squares and add a little bit of color and style to your next one?

Linking Vines Pattern

This one will take a little bit of planning. Get some paper and draw out a trail for your vines to follow, making sure that they don't bunch up in one particular place. Then, when you have something you like, add a scattering of roses!

Wreath of Roses

Why should Xmas have all the fun with wreaths? A wreath of roses makes a great centrepiece for a rose quilt and has a fresh and inviting appeal that's unbeatable!

Pick 2 or 3 colors to make something very special.

Border of Roses

You do not always have to cover every square inch of a rose quilt with flowers. Actually you can accomplish an effective and minimalist effect by sewing borders of roses around the edges of the quilt. It looks amazing and actually stands out!

So there you have it, 4 great new ideas to get you out of the same of rose quilt cycle!
