Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Facts about Pol Roger Champagne

Perhaps you've tasted this exquisite champagne but did you ever heard of its origins? In the following paragraphs, we are going to write about the famous Pol Roger champagne, its origins, types of champagnes from brut to rose and why is it one of the most expensive champagne brands.

The illustrious producer's vineries are set close to the town of Epernay in Champagne-Ardenne, France. Pol Roger Champagne was Winston Churchill's favorite bubbly; he said the famous words : "In victory we deserve it, in defeat we need it". The house was been founded in 1849 and named Roger. It became Pol Roger only in 1900. A hero of the champagne house was Maurice Pol Roger. He was a notable mayor of Epernay. People supported him years after years because in 1914 he courageously forbid an invading German army to enter the town. Maurice boys took the business after his death. Today their direct descendants manage the business. Since 1988, Christian de Billy and Christian Pol Roger are the heads of the brand. Pol Roger House owns around 55 ha mostly in and out Epernay.

What sorts of champagne does Pol Roger produce? Just like all the other traditional champagne houses, Pol Roger has its own prestige cuvee, a champagne released after 10 years of its first vintage. This is the best champagne from Pol Roger. Its name is self-explanatory, Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill, and it's made of Pinot Noir dominant. The first vintage of this cuvee was in 1975 and released in 1984. Other sorts of champagne include the classic non-vintage Pol Roger made of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. The Brut Reserve includes one third of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier.

It is among the few champagne brands that use the legendary Champenoise method and produces one of the most expensive champagne in the world.
