So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

By Michelle Hopkins

Have you ever found yourself in the grocery store wondering why some tomatoes look so warped, while others look normal? Then, you are not alone. Well, if you on read below, you'll see why this is!

Imagine providing your loved ones with great tasting and nutritious tomatoes. Wouldn't it be nice to know the proper time for planting tomatoes so that you can control the way they grow? Of course. It would really be worth it. And the only pointers you need to know are the following:

The type of tomatoes you want to grow Which phase do you want the tomatoes to grow from How to cultivate tomatoes depending on the variety you have chosen

What Kind of Tomato do you actually Want to Cultivate? Although there are hundreds of species of tomatoes, you'll probably be surprised to know that there are really only two types. The two kinds of tomatoes are indeterminate and determinate.

In simple terms, determinates are: Plants that die once the tomatoes have matured Tomatoes with vines that grow to a fixed size

Indeterminates are : Tomato plants that can bloom several times in a season Tomatoes with vines that grow uncontrollably as long as you leave them running

Each of these types can produce various species, so it's up to you to know what you want or can accommodate, so you can plant your tomatoes right away.

Starting a Vegetable Garden with Tomatoes or growing tomatoes in pots Your prep time will vary according to what you decide to start with while growing your tomatoes. You might prefer to begin with tomato seeds. For that you will have to begin about 7 weeks before the frost date.

Keep in mind that tomatoes do not grow well in temperatures less than 55F. Starting the seeds indoors a number of weeks before the last frost date will give you healthy tomatoes by the time you are ready to transplant them to soil outside.

If you start with seedlings, you have to make sure that the leaves are not yellowing or speckling. If they happen to be, then chances are you will end up with a dead tomato plant in no time.

Guidelines for growing tomatoes A big part of knowing how to plant tomatoes involves knowing about the soil. You can plant your tomatoes in any type of soil. The only important thing is that they should get enough compost. They can get vital nutrients necessary for a healthy growth from the compost. You'll also need to ensure that you fertilize them so they don't get diseased.

Tomatoes also thrive when they have proper sunlight. This explains why the cold season is not a good time to begin your tomato garden. Grow your tomato garden in an open airy place!

Do you want to know when to plant tomatoes? The answer to that question is easy. Only two things are important. They are averse to cold and flourish in the sunlight. The kind of tomatoes you plant and the soil are comparatively less important. Sun, water and warm soil: It's a pretty simple formula, right?
