So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Tips On What To Expect From Lap Band Surgery NJ

By Katy Mccall

Many people try crash diets and diet pills to lose weight. One very effect method for losing weight and keeping it off is lap band surgery NJ. When considering this procedure knowing what to expect will help a person make an informed decision.

To reduce the amount of food that can be stored, an adjustable ring is placed around the stomach, much like a belt. It creates a golf size pouch at the top of the stomach. This slows the release of food into the system and creates a sense of fullness.

The device is put in place by using laparoscopic surgery. Tiny pouches line the belt and are filled with a saline solution to decrease the stomach size. When ever a patient stops losing weight, more of the solution can be added by the doctor or if they are losing weight too quickly or become unhealthy, the fluid can be decreased.

A person can usually have the procedure performed as an outpatient. Lots of rest is important while recovering along with walking as often as possible. Walking reduces the chance of blood clots developing. Within one week they should be able to return to work and back to usual activities within six weeks.

For the first 2 weeks the patient will be on a liquid diet to allow the swelling in the stomach to go down. Then solid food will slowly be introduced. It is important to follow a nutrition plan that includes vitamins and minerals daily.

A person can expect to lose 2 to 3 pounds per week for the 1st year but the average is 1 pound per week. Gastric banding produces a 40% reduction in weight during the first year and a 55% loss during the second year. If the patient hits a plateau, saline solution can be added by the doctor.

Counseling should also be considered as part of your lap band surgery NJ, in order to make and maintain lifestyle changes during and after weight loss. Ask health care providers if they know of support groups. In addition, when choosing a bariatric surgeon to perform the procedure, find one that includes nutrition counseling.
