So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

What A Gift A Toy Music Box Is

By Gary Francis

Music box collectors and enthusiasts often have a wide variety of music boxes in their collections. Some collectors may like music boxes that play wonderful music, while others might go for the ones that provide an ornate home to jewelry and family heirlooms. But what we often forget when debating music boxes is that almost everybody have been touched by their song at one point or another. There are many children's toys that have a virtually universal appeal and presence; teddy bears, a baby doll, toy vehicles, and yes, a toy music box too.

Each day millions of babies are lulled to sleep by the calming sounds of a music box. And every day many of these same babies awaken to play with a toy music box. Whether it is a Jack-In-The-Box whose song is a predecessor to him springing from his box, or a stuffed toy that is wound up and plays a lullaby, music boxes become part of our lives at the earliest of ages.

Older youngsters have strong ties to music boxes also. Many girls enjoy a toy music box in the shape of a music jewellery box that opens to bare more than only jewelry. Maybe the most popular toy music box for girls is the ballerina music box which opens to display the performance of a balletdancer, or perhaps an ice skater, who twirls gracefully across a stage of mirrored glass.

Boys, on the other hand, could be more acquainted with a toy music box that displays circling aeroplanes, trains, or autos rather than a dancing or skating performer. Of course, there are countless versions of the toy music box that everyone remembers, regardless of our gender. Toy clocks, radios, TVs, records players, and CD players, each one of them have taken the kind of a music box and have given hours of excitement to countless kids.

As adults many of us still have an interest in toy music boxes. Whether or not it is a musical snow world, a memento from a holiday, or maybe the music boxes that we enjoyed in our youth, for many a toy music box is something that stays with us for an entire life.
