So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Drain Grate: Your Property's Defense Against Excess Water

By Linda Robbins

The secret to making sure your land is protected against floods is proper drainage. Installing a drain grate on your land will prevent water pooling on or around it, which also prevents thousands of dollars in renovation subsequently. It is best placed around your land, the garage, the pool, and where the land is lowered.

Particularly during the rainy season, water can seep in the foundation of buildings. Flooded cellars and underground areas, as well as standing water, are threats that can potentially cause cracks and movements on the foundation. Excess water in the garden areas can either pool in your lawn or produce saturation in soil, which can destroy the plants and may also even cause erosion in raised fields.

An easy solution to prevent all this is to create a drain grate around your property. Installing just one drain hole isn't enough, though. It is not enough protection against rain water, especially during heavy rain pour. A channel drain grate is installed around the property so that the water has less chances of reaching the building.

Today, particularly in commercial holdings, a drain grate also functions as an architectural design and not simply protection guard against flood. Channel drain grates have unlimited collection of colors. It can be requested in camouflage or standout colors, depending on the design.

There are drain grates that are set up in unnoticeable color to merge into the walkway or driveway. The discreet pattern of standard vertical lines helps it become obscure.

But there are also those, and they are becoming quite popular today, that are in customized patterns and colors to make them stand out. These drain grates are usually found around the fountain area and swimming pool or wherever visible to people. They are considered ornamental and functional at the same time.

Protecting your property against water and flooding will guard your property's foundation, saving you from pricey cost of repairs subsequently. Installing a drain grate around your property is a simple, and often very decorative, way to do so.
