So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Decorate Your House with Flexible Drapery Fabric

By Alice Jones

If you don't enjoy stitching or have no idea how, you'll be thrilled to know that you can use drapery fabric in numerous interesting, exciting ways to enhance and decorate your home with little or no sewing involved. You can use it to create coverings for tables and furniture, and of course attractive window decor by simply measuring, cutting and folding. If you're able to finish the sides by hemming, it'll help your creations last longer, but this is not absolutely necessary. With only minimum stitching talents, you can create pillowslips and cushion covers in matching or coordinating patterns. Use zippers or cord ties to secure them in place , depending on the level of your stitching talents.

Drapery fabric has a nice weight to it that makes it excellent for simply folding and shaping to bring out the very best in windows and in furniture. By folding a length of it into an accordion fold pattern, you can create an interesting drape to grace the top of your window casement and sweep attractively down each side. All you need is a decorative hook at every top corner of the window. This treatment adds a final touch to blinds or sheers.

Drapery fabric works well to cover minute solid pieces of furniture, for example footstools, if used with heat activated adhesive. Simply measure the item and cut a length of fabric to cover it abundantly with room to spare underneath for applying your adhesive. Follow package directions on the adhesive for the best and most lasting results. When used in this way, small spots and stains can easily be cleaned with a commercial upholstery cleaning product.

Ornamental items made to drape or toss over furniture may be machine washed or dry cleaned depending on the fabric chosen and whether you've been able to finish the sides of the fabric by hemming.

Dry cleaning is suggested for items without finished edges.
