So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Make Your Private Mosaic Countertops and Back Splash

By Amie Thomson

Applying mosaic tile over a flat surface is not hard. You can find numerous colors of tiles at your nearest tile shop. The man or woman at the tile retailer can help you with your design and the colors. When you decide on a style you must do a sketch of your pattern on the counter that you want to put your design. You can implement a felt pen that will mark the countertop with your design.

To allow for the tiles to adhere to the surface properly, you should get a utility knife and score the area but not too much to remove the pattern. Then, apply to the counter, watered down white adhesive like Elmer's white glue. Don't hurry before you lay the tiles down to design the pattern that you want. It is essential you know just how your pattern will look like before you lay the tiles. Start from the center, and do the job outwards. Next have tile cement, which is additionally called mortar, and spread a thin coating, about 1/8th of an inch thick over the surface. When you are applying the tiles over the counter top, place your tiles according to the pattern that you drew on the surface. They offer special tiles that are designed to be the corners and end pieces. Before going to the next step, you need to wait for the cement to harden.

After it solidifies, you'll be able to fill the gaps between the tiles using tile grout. When you go to the tile store, you will see many different colors of grout besides white and cream. To make sure that the seams are even and the grout is smoothed out, you will need to use a trowel. You will probably have roughly 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch of room between each of the tiles. Once you've finished using the trowel, use a sponge to wipe away all of the seams between the tiles. After you have cleaned the surface, you can now admire your own labor. Whenever you remodel your counter top or back splash, you'll want to choose a design that is not too loud. If you are planning to sell the house in the future, it is best to keep the design as conservative as possible. Work with a lot of one color and accent it with some complimentary colors.

Another way to complete the tiles is usually to take a mix of colored tiles, put them in a towel and whack them with a hammer. You will end up with numerous shapes and sizes. As soon as that is completed, you place mortar on the back splash and trowel it to about 1/8 of an inch thick. Choose some of the smashed pieces and place them onto the back splash leaving about an eighth of an inch to a quarter of an inch between each tile. Ensure that the colors you pick go with each other. Once the tiles have dried on the back splash, get the grout and smooth it throughout the tiles.

It may well turn out that working on mosaic tiles will be your calling and you can start your own business doing that. You will probably find yourself generating a nice revenue. There are many individuals who took a hobby that they loved and turned it into a successful business.
