You will, no lie, get about an hour's use out of 4 AA batteries before the machine is pooched. It's intelligently designed and fits well in my hands.
I haven't found a very good purpose to use it but it's just cool to have it around when your sitting in front of the computer.
It fit in my normal-sized fanny pack with an extra set of batteries and the little water bottle, along with a small still camera and a Flip video camera. Cooling bandanas were great but didn't cut the edge. Just FYI, I bought this off Amazon about a week or so ago. Shipping was super slow so I don't remember exactly at what point I paid for it.
I think $30 would be a more reasonable price for what you get. I would also assume that a compatible A/C adapter could be purchased for it. I really love it. The unit is easy to use, quiet and effective. Take one a post-it note (the bigger 3x5-ish ones are better), and cover the top half of the sponge vent with it.
I bought two and used them both on the trip therefore not allowing me to get any of my money back and it leaves me with two useless items. The knockoffs are cheaper but I'm slightly skeptical about their quality and didn't want to buy that with the potential it might not work. It has been 6 months now. Just be better if it came with batteries too. It is far from silent, but is quiet enough that it doesn't interfere. I had it in my Camper along with a small personal fan and seemed to knock temps down about three degrees which in my way of thinking was just fine. If I were you, try it first before forking out your hard-earned dollars. Now when I start feeling warm I turn on my Handy cooler and the cool air starts flowing.
I don't have to worry about it running out of batteries because I can connect it through USB onto my PC. A friend of mine at work had this fan and let me borrow it and I used it so much she got me one as a gift!
My mother in law borrowed it to help with hot flashes she gets due to medication. If I want to be in the same room as my husband and children (which I do) then when I am not in my office, I can use the Handy Cooler rather than the Kuul Aire, and use the Handy Cooler JUST ON ME. I got 3 of these in my home, one for everyone in the family.
It's no new technology.
They arrived in the mail in great condition in a timely manner, but using them is a headache. From now on, I will hesitate on believing Amazon reviews because either the company is making fake reviews or they simply only post positive reviews.
