So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

What To Know About Transmissions

By Marguerite Stanton

A gearbox or a transmission contains a certain configuration of gears found in a mechanism that is box-shaped. It is the part that sends the engine's power to the wheels. Transmissions are responsible from converting energy to movement by using the gears and the clutch.

This gearbox is commonly found in cars. There are two types of mechanisms that are available for automobiles. One is automatic while the other one is manual. This is a part of the car that is as important as the engine because it is the one responsible for transmitting the power to the wheels to make it run.

The manual type requires the driver to change the gears himself using the stick shifter. The car's speed can be increased or decreased as the gears change. For each gear that is engaged, a definite range of speed can be felt by the automobile.

The gears have different sizes to enable the change in the speed of the automobile. They can either be increased or decreased by the driver depending on the need to do so. It has to be engaged or disengaged mostly to avoid any dangerous movement of the automobile. It will also allow the reverse movement without cutting off the engine.

Another component of this mechanism is the clutched. The driver must keep in mind that this is used each time a gear is engaged or disengaged. If this is not done properly, the car's engine can turn off even in the middle of the drive.

Most cars nowadays already use the automatic kind when it comes to this matter. This is also called transaxles which is found in most font-wheel drive automobiles. For this model, there is a torque converter which automatically engages the clutch pack to engage or disengage a certain gear.

People have varying opinions about Transmissions. Like other things, each type has its pros and cons. The manual gives a better feel of the road for the driver but in can be inconvenient to change gears manually. Automatic cars are easy to maneuver but drivers who are used to this will find manual vehicles difficult to drive.
