So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

Qualities That Make Duplex Stainless Steel Better Than Other Types Of Steel

By Daniel Walker

There are various types of steel used for different purposes in the marketplace today. Among these, stainless steel is unquestionably one of the best. Steel is classified as stainless if chromium, the elements that provides corrosion resistance properties, is added to it. These properties in fact give the steel a number of advantages.

Possibly the most widely used types of stainless steel is duplex stainless steel. Apart from the high level of corrosion resistance, duplex stainless steel also shows elevated disputation to inter-granular breakdown. Not to mention, duplex can survive an environment with chloride. And like other types of super duplex stainless steel, duplex is also immune to stress corrosion cracking.

This type of stainless steel is called "duplex" because of its two-phase properties - a configuration of ferritic grains and austenitic stainless steel. If you liquefy a "duplex," its fluid form will be turn into a completely ferritic composition. In a room temperature, while the composition is cooling off, about half of the grains are altered to austenitic forms; therefore, a more or less half-half duplex composition microstructure.

This structure gives the stainless steel family a mixture of the following striking properties:

Power - the dual configuration of duplex makes it twice stronger than regular types of stainless steel.

Extremely high level of resistance to corrosion - The resistant capacity to corrosion of all stainless steels primarily depends on their composition. Due to elements like molybdenum, nitrogen, and chromium, duplex stainless steel has a higher resistance to corrosion compared to other types of steel.

High level of resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Ordinary austenitics steels are easily affected and ruined in an environment with chloride and humidity. But "duplex" shows a formidable resistance to stress corrosion cracking, thanks to its ferritic make-up.

Cheaper than other stainless steel - Duplex steels are more affordable compared to others because they do not need many alloys. This is great news to the marine industry since duplex steels are highly needed in this type of business, aside from copper nickel.

Duplex stainless steel is used by a lot of companies and businesses worldwide. A few examples where this type of steel is demanded include chemical processing, refining of gas and oil, marine pipe supplier businesses and manufacturing of pulps.
