So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Celebrating Your Holiday With Thanksgiving Chocolates

By Tameka Ware

This is most definitely one of the more significant holidays for Americans and Canadians alike. The historical breaking of bread eaten between the Pilgrims and the Indians has never been celebrated in such a gastronomically delightful way. Thanksgiving chocolates are a novel way of giving thanks.

Thanksgiving is synonymous with roast turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. It is a perfect excuse to eat like kings and, of course, celebrate time spent with family and loved ones. It is a most special time where we take stock of the year just passed and show our love to the people closest to us.

Giving thanks is the order of the day at this special time of the season. Gifting friends or neighbors with special holiday candies is a way to show your gratitude to them. And there are loads of varieties of chocolate to choose from.

Thanksgiving evokes thoughts of turkey and big dinners. Try decorating your coffee table with bowlfuls of foil-covered candy turkeys. Give them to visitors to your house. Or use them as place settings for your dinner guests, each of them getting a different color.

Dark or milk chocolate leaves covered in colored foil offer the feeling of fall to any table. Scattering the leaves on your holiday centrepiece to leave surprise treats for your guests. They will enjoy looking for the chocolate within the display.

Filling your candy bowl to the brim with chocolate-covered pistachios and almonds is another idea. Add some autumn fruit like dried apricots and cherries. Mix the chocolate and dried fruit to add to the seasonal feel.

Try some malt-centered chocolates covered in different color confectionery coating. Give them to your friends packaged in a clear poly bag with a seasonal ribbon.

Chocolate and Thanksgiving do not instantly collocate in the mind. However, there are endless amounts of artisan chocolatiers specializing in making the most perfect party favor for this time of year. Experimentation is key, the limit lies only where the imagination stops.

Especially after a pie overload, there is nothing better than sitting down with a cup of coffee and a foil-covered turkey, just to finish off the day. Sharing them with family and friends is a perfect way to round off the day that's in it.

Of course, if you yourself are feeling in the creative holiday spirit you could always try your hand at chocolate-making. Buying your own molds is relatively inexpensive and at this time of year your average chocolatier will have them in stock.

Take your favorite kind of chocolate and melt it down into the molds. Then just sit them into the fridge to set. You will have your own home-made party treats in no time. Pile them up on a plate and sprinkle confectioner's sugar over them. Set them out as a decorative table setting. You can also pack them into the clear plastic bags and give them as gifts to your family and friends.

There are endless creative and enjoyable ways to include Thanksgiving chocolates into the celebrations of the season. This will really be a welcome escape from heaps of pumpkin pie and endless piles of turkey sandwiches.
