So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

How To Naturally Clean Old Metal Signs

By Ann Jordan

When handling old metal signs that require cleaning, it is always good to clean the surfaces with products that are as natural as possible. Choosing natural solutions for cleaning not only helps the surface to be cleaned but, it is also good for you as well since you will be in direct contact with the cleaning solution.

The easiest way to begin the process is to fill up a pale with warm, fresh water. Depending on the size of the surface that is going to be clean you may need a large pale or just a simple small spray bottle. Regardless of the size of your water source, add some liquid soap to the water. Liquid soap can be invaluable, allowing you to remove a lot of greasy, grimy dirty surfaces.

Get a good sturdy cloth to dip in the water, wringing out any access water and then simply wipe the sign off. Some people prefer to use a brush or sponge to clean the dirty surface. Do be extra cautious when choosing to use a brush though because they can sometimes cause scratching on sensitive surfaces such as metal, always use a brush that is very soft.

Once you are pleased with the outcome of cleaning the sign the next step is to make sure that it is dried off properly. Do not be overly concerned if you notice that the surface still has some residual dirt as the drying process with help remove small amounts of dirt that has lingered.

Stubborn marks and dirt can also be approached with vinegar and water if you would like. When you add vinegar to your water, always add equal amounts of each to the pale or spray bottle. Once the vinegar mixture has been applied to the entire area to be cleaned, rinse the solution off and dry as needed.

If you find that despite cleaning with liquid soap and water or vinegar solution your sign is still not as clean as you would like you may want to consider using something else such as a salt and lime juice. Simply cover the surface with the mixture, rinse and dry.

To ensure that the solution you choose is going to react well with the area to be cleaned, always take time to test a small area of the surface. It is good to remember that cleaning more often can help you prevent excessive dirt and grime from forming on surfaces and help you keep your sign longer than if it is not frequently cared for.

Do keep safety in mind, especially if you are dealing with old metal signs to be clean that are located in a hard to reach area. Always use necessary precautions when dealing with heights. It is a good idea to ask someone to give you a hand should you need to clean in an awkward area.
