So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

The Construction Of A Slurry Hose

By Margarita Joseph

A slurry hose is only used in the mining industry, and is specifically designed in order to serve a special purpose. It can be used in mines that extract valuable materials, such as nickel, zinc, iron, bauxite, lead and limestone, just to name a few, and is part of the tools that are used for the transportation of tailings. Tailings is the term that refers to the waste material of the mines that needs to be taken away.

These slurry hoses are more often than not very flexible. They are made this way in order to withstand the kind of abrasion that comes with mining. Often, abrasion is caused by the materials that are transported through these hoses and as a result, there is always a need to protect hoses used in the mining industry hence the flexibility.

Furthermore, the pipe will need to be covered, as it cannot be left out in the sun and rain, day in and day out. The various weather conditions in which they are expected to function could cause numerous damages. Special coatings, or coverings, are therefore used for the pipes to protect them from all kinds of weather conditions. The sun is a major contributing factor to damages, and the pipes are therefore UV protected.

Tools used for dealing with waste products, such as hoses, must be made in the right way. The hoses are often long, so that they effectively carry the waste to where it is discarded, and are able to withstand heat. Mining pipes are used daily, and are put under immense pressure at times. They must therefore be strong enough.

Then again, these hoses normally have different flange ends. The commonly used flange ends include rotating, double flange and the standard one. Theses flanges are fitted in the ends of this special pipe. This will in turn make it possible for them to be fitted to other mining equipments such as tanks or even joined to one another if need be.

Before the hoses are sold, they must be tested for its quality. It must be ensured that each is able to endure a lengthy working period, and is durable under various weather conditions and high pressure scenarios. The tests are carefully conducted so that accurate results can be achieved. They are specifically designed for their purpose.

There are also various methods of making the hose more sturdy so that it does not suffer wear and tear too easily. As the pipes are laid, laborers will also ensure that there are sufficient support beams for them. The beams are screwed into the ground or concrete flooring, and are attached to a steel frame.

Once the beam is screwed to the ground, the hose is then fitted or fixed by use of clumps. These clumps help hold the slurry hose firmly to the beam. Additionally, these beams should be able to accommodate the size and dimension the hose. This will make it immovable once the mining starts and the fluids are pumped through it.
