So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Taking Care Of Stainless Steel Necklaces

By Tonia Merritt

A lot of people are fond of using stainless steel necklaces as accessories. These pieces are very popular because they have advantages that you cannot find in other kinds of jewelries. One of the advantages is the material is more versatile. It looks great on any gender. However, an advantage that gives it edge over other precious metals is its durability. This is very resistant against rust or corrosion.

Although the material is durable, this does not mean that it no longer needs some maintenance. Just like other kinds of jewelries, these items are in need of proper maintenance for them to stay in good shape for a very long time. For the maintenance, the proper way to maintain jewelries is by taking in consideration their material. Each type has to be stored and cleaned in a certain way.

One thing you have to protect your necklace or any other jewelry from is scratch. No matter how durable it is, the surface can still get scratched especially when it will come in contact with something sharp or rough. Scratches can be avoided by being careful when wearing your jewelry and when putting them somewhere.

Jewelries especially necklaces have to be cleaned because these things are always exposed to dust, dirt, oil, and sweat. Over time, the surface will become dull and smudgy. Stainless steel jewelries can be cleaned by soaking it in warm water mixed with a mild detergent. Use a soft cloth and gently wipe the surface.

Another way that people clean their jewelry is by using toothpaste. This method is also being used to clean jewelries made from silver, gold, and other precious metals. However, before you use your toothpaste, check first for silica. Do not use the toothpaste if this ingredient is present. Using toothpaste can also help restore the luster.

Another example of a solution that you can try is the baking soda and vinegar solution. These two ingredients are commonly used in cleaning surfaces. However, vinegar can be corrosive. For this reason, you have to be careful about the amount you will put. To be safe, always test the solution first on another item before using it on the jewelry.

Fortunately, there are now products that were specially formulated for cleaning stainless steel. For convenience and for your own peace of mind, it is also a good idea to purchase stainless steel cleaners. By using this, you will not worry about damaging or scratching the surface every time you have to clean the jewelry.

Proper storage is also essential for the maintenance of jewelries. Your items should be kept dry at all times by placing them in an airtight storage like a box or plastic. An airtight storage helps prevent moisture. The jewelries should be cleaned first before being stored. It is advisable to separate each jewelry to avoid scratches.

Well maintained stainless steel necklaces are a joy to have. Not only will these items make gorgeous accessories but these can be great investments as well. The good news is, maintaining such things is simple and can be done with ease.
