So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

Scratched Glasses Lens Repair And How To Do It

By Andrea Davidson

It is very possible for those who have been wearing glasses for quite some time that it had already been scratched at least once or twice. This is a common problem and it can be addressed in a simple and cheap manner. There are many ways to perform scratched glasses lens repair. It that is needed is the proper know how.

To those with plastic lenses, it may be possible to buff out small scratches by yourself with the use of common household products. There are times when professional repairs can be avoid as long as you are knowledgeable in how to remedy certain situations on your own, making the end result look clean and generally scratch free.

One way of doing things would be to utilize a wood cleaner so that the plastic lenses can be buffed out. It is sprayed on and then subsequently wiped off. After that, liquid petroleum jelly is also sprayed and wiped off, same as before. The petroleum has the ability to fill in any scratch, so after the application it would look less noticeable. Repeat the process as much as necessary.

Another thing that can be used to buff these things up would be polish, both the silver and the brass variety. Soft and clean rags are required when it comes right down to the rubbing and the wiping. Wipe off any excess polish. This must be repeated until the scratches are no longer visible.

Another thing that can be used but most people think not to are those cleaning sprays that come with DVD or CD repair kits. This is often used for CDs and DVDs, but it can work with other times too, including glasses. Just like before, make sure to use soft rags for this one.

After all of that has been done, make sure to dab a non abrasive toothpaste on the lens. Rubbing on it in a circular motion using a cotton ball is the way to go, followed up by rinsing it with cool water. If the scratch is particularly deep, you may need to do it again and again for a few more times.

A paste from water and baking soda can be created. This is done by putting the baking soda inside a bowl and mixing water in small amounts until a thick paste is achieved. Rub it the same way it was done with the toothpaste and make sure to rise it all off.

More items that can be used include windshield wash and vehicle wax. Like all others before it, the wax is for rubbing, to make sure the scratches are all gone, or at least seemingly so. The windshield wash, however, is particularly useful when it comes to small scratches. It is also a known water repellant and can prevent fogging.

Lastly, there is glass etching, which is yet another useful method for scratched glasses lens repair. Normally, it is made for those glass art projects. It is notably advisable for those that lack anti reflective coating. The abrasive is typically bought at most hobby stores or craft stores. The use of rubber gloves is also very important to this method.
