So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Hardwood Floors And Area Rugs

By Hailie Crocket

Choosing a hardwood floor is the way to go if you want to achieve great results for home decorating. Hardwood is available in all kinds of thickness and patterns. You can use hardwood over vinyl floor and other solid surfaces. With the various prices, you'll surely find a rate just right for your budget. It is advisable to hire professional service in installing hardwood flooring, but if you're confident about your home improvement skills especially with tools and heavy materials, the Internet and floor installation manuals provide easy steps for doing so.

Proper care for a wood flooring ascertains its top-notch condition for many years. Cleaning it with products especially made for this type of floor will make it more polished. Don't just use any cleaning products you see in your cabinet. Make sure that it's for hardwood. You don't want to see stains, spots and discoloration mar your beautiful flooring.

Hardwood can be susceptible to scratches and dents, especially the high-traffic areas. Simple polishing sometimes might not do the job thus, refurbishing is needed. Regularly sanding and refinishing your floor can actually maintain its excellent quality, making it look brand new every time.

Floor coverings are also a way to decorate and protect the floor. Area rugs are perfect cases of floor covers and decors. Placing them in frequented areas protects the hardwood from damages. At the same time, area rugs add beauty to the room. Almost all colors look good with a hardwood, so if you want to go bright, feel free to provide contrast by using shades of yellow, red, blue and big patterns. Meanwhile, if you prefer dark colors, the earth and neutral tones will complement the already dark surface of the floor.

Your house will never look boring or lacking with home decors like area rugs. Some think that hardwood is too sophisticated or too severe-looking. You can either enhance or change these notions by simply decorating with area rugs. A too chic room for your taste? Then place a round, brightly colored rug for a casual twist. Is the room too serious looking with hardwood floor? Then make it pretty by decorating with an intricately designed rug such as the Oriental kind or choose geometric patterns for a fun side.

Shopping for area rugs is a breeze. No headaches, no stress especially if you know what color and size suits a room best. An important tip is to go with a color scheme for balance or drama. Same shade creates harmony while contrast gives a dramatic effect. Also, measure the area first before heading out and getting your area rug. The rug should fit the space perfectly for a well-coordinated interior.
