So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Medieval Style - Going Back In Time With Your Home Design

By Bill Younger

If you want to make your home stand out consider a home decor theme based around the medieval era. During this time both mobility and warmth were very important. The main goals of the decor in this time were portability and usefulness. These defined the decorating choices in nearly all homes. This is because during these war torn times families were not only forced to move frequently but they were also force to share there home. Most things that were owned had to be able to be packed and moved easily. This fact makes a medieval theme perfect for small homes.

It is important to keep these colors in mind when planning to decorate a room in your house in a medieval theme. If the room you want to decorate in has little natural light this is the prefect idea for you. To liven up this room's interior use colors like forest green, vibrant red, midnight blue, and canary yellow as your accent colors. Use a light color as your main color so that more light will be reflected and your room will feel larger.

The best thing is to start with walls. Use colorful wall treatments in order to liven up the areas that need more light. You may be interested in adding a stone appearance. It may take a little work and time, but you can create this look by using a sponge to press on light grey paint over a white wall.

To have the complete feel of the medieval period you might like to add small portable furniture to your room. Also display colorfully painted dishes and vases on side tables. Remember to use just a few of these knick knacks otherwise the theme will not be believable. Include an area rug also. These items were common not only because they were easily portable but also because they add warmth to the room.

Area rug is another great decoration. It's very easy to move and adds color to the room. Canvas, silk and velvet were the fabrics commonly used in the medieval times so they're the best candidates for an area rug fabric. Choose brightly colored area rug to match your motif. Such area rug also makes a nice centerpiece for a room.

Enjoy the beauty your home gets with this design. Reliving the medieval period is not all about the hard times. I'm sure there are more things people were grateful for that time. Their beautiful, warm home for one.
