So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Live Safer With a Wireless Burglar Alarm

By Todd Cavanaugh

The recession and rising joblessness are taking a toll in many ways in our society. One of those is the rising burglary rate. If a burglary was happening every twelve seconds before the recession, it is hard to imagine what the rate is now. One way to protect yourself and your property is with a wireless burglar alarm.

Perhaps more alarming than the fact that there are more than 750 burglaries for every 100,000 people in the U.S. is the fact that these brazen criminals are breaking into people's homes in the daytime while the residents are at home. Sixty-two percent of burglaries happen during daytime hours and a startling sixty percent occur while people are at home.

Why a Wireless Burglar Alarm?

The fact that wireless burglar alarms are a good choice for any residence is supported by several facts. First, alarms are a deterrent. Homes that have no security are three times more likely to be targeted.

Second, wireless burglar alarms are ideal for people who rent an apartment or house. Because there are no wires, there is no damage to walls, ceilings and floors. In fact, a portable wireless burglar alarm can be removed and taken with you when you move to another house or apartment.

The third advantage of a wireless burglar alarm is that they are quick and easy to install. You can probably handle the installation yourself in about an hour's time.

Wireless Burglar Alarm Components

You can pick and choose the components you need for your wireless burglar alarm, just as you would with a hard-wired system. You can get an alarm for a single door or a system for an entire house.

The basic essentials are: a control panel, a panic button, a connection to a telephone line (for monitoring or to notify the police), a few sensors or switches for doors and windows, and a siren or alarm. From this basis, you can add motion-activated outdoor lights, motion sensors inside, glass-break sensors, security video cameras, and much more.

What Kind of Wireless Burglar Alarm Do You Need?

The best way to decide what you need in a wireless burglar alarm is to consult a professional. Just call a home security company as ask for a consultation. They will look at your property, ask questions about your family's lifestyle and routine, and tell you where your residence is vulnerable.

The next step is to look for the right wireless burglar alarm for your needs. Consulting with a security professional on this decision is also a good idea. Together you can decide whether you just need something at the door that will make a lot of noise or if you need a whole-house system that is monitored twenty-four hours a day. You can decide who should be notified if there is a break-in and ensure that the system you choose can meet your needs.

If you decide you only need a single wireless burglar alarm on your apartment door, you might just ask the alarm dealer to advise you on the best alarm. If the instructions with the alarm are clear, you can then install it yourself.

Carefully evaluate your security needs, shop for the best price on the right wireless burglar alarm, and get it properly installed. Then you can go on with your life without worry about your family's safety at home or protecting your possessions.
