So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Creating Your Dream Lodge Kitchen Decor

By Rebecca McKeich

Many people have discovered how building cabins within their backyard can increase the value of their homes. In fact, it also helps the family experience a new scenery without leaving their place. To maximize what your cabins have, you have to know how to decorate it. Here are some tips that may prove to be useful for your rustic kitchen revamping plans.

During the planning phase, it is necessary for the log home owners to indicate all the details of their design. To know which materials to buy, a unifying factor such as a theme must be established first. They can try having a mini country restaurant look all around, or they can opt for a contemporary look set in the rustic log home for a more unique approach.

If space is a problem, as often log homes are not that big, maximizing what you have is necessary. Consider putting in cabinets that have multiple storage areas as well as counters that can seat many people in a strategic way. Avoid putting hanging pot racks and any other low ceiling decorations.

To keep everything simple and maintain elegance at the same time, purchasing small space occupying but useful furniture would be helpful. For instance, instead of getting wide and complicated looking chairs for the counter, try wooden stools that are tall and slim. They would make a perfect match for lodge kitchen area.

Do not put too much on the countertops too. This is in relation to the limitation of space cabins have. Cabinets that do not touch the ceilings would also be good to install because this leaves log owners more room for decorations. They can actually put collectibles on top of the cabinets and they will create the illusion that the ceilings are tall.

Showing off dining articles is very stylish. It would help to use glass on some parts of the cabinets to display the articles and achieve excellent aesthetics. Moreover, since light is a very important thing to have when cooking, put a window between the cabinets with a light valance hanging on top of it.

Together with light, put plants near the sink or above the cabinets to incorporate the concept of life. This also helps in reducing odor inside the area. In addition to giving life to the room, try breaking out of the ordinary by painting light colors to the cabinets. If you really prefer maintaining the rustic look of cabins, at least get a light colored wood.

Log home owners must also think about which kitchen appliances they need to use for cooking. Some people want their kitchens to be filled up with the latest and greatest appliances, however this is not practical when it comes to cabins. People only spend a couple of days in their log homes. That's why putting too many items would not only be useless but also space consuming.
