So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Selecting The Right Material For Curtain Linings Curtain Linings - Choose The Right Material

By Jane Winslow

Curtain linings improve the look of the curtains and as well as the way they hang. It is, therefore , of primary importance, to choose the right kind of curtain lining material to give the curtains a delicate appearance. Curtain lining adds weight and opaqueness to the curtains. While the curtains hang better because of increased weight, opaqueness is is to be considered when thinner fabric is employed for curtains.

Curtain linings also forestall fading of draperies due to exposure to bright sunlight and therefore extend their lifetime. In case the reverse side of a drapery is visible, the employment of the lining material offers a finished look.

Often, the lining fabric is lighter compared with the drapery fabric and is made from cotton, polyester, or a mix of both. The lining fabric can have a glossy or matte finish, but it has got to be non-stretch type. The most widely used color of the lining material for curtains is white or off-white. This is because it does not show thru even the lightest colored curtain fabric. Coloured curtain linings are also used.

Specialised drapery lining materials are used to meet certain specific wants. A blackout lining provides help in cutting off light when the curtains are closed. Some lining fabrics are treated to provide water repelling quality. It is intended for use in old homes with leaky windows or damp conditions. Curtain lining material with insulation is useful in cold places. Usually blackout lining is useful for bedroom curtains and thermal lining for living room drapery. Thermal lining not only contributes to insulation from cold, but also to savings in energy costs. Curtains utilized in commercial conglomerates will need lining material treated with fire retardant to meet fire codes.

Curtains with linings should be dry cleaned. This is due to the fact that the curtain fabric and the lining fabric may shrink at different rates when washed. Further, it's critical to make sure that the lining fabric has the same care instructions as that of the curtain fabric.
