So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

The Selection Of First Holy Communion Dresses Is An Important One

By Juliette Cruz

One should go out of their way to help a child make a decision when choosing from the many first Holy Communion dresses. This is a sacred day so there are a few things a parent will want to consider. There is the softness of the material and of course the price. Sentimentality of the choice of dress is crucial to some. Style may be figured in as well.

Ultimately, one should consider the child and what they like to wear. The girl in question may love a beautiful princess dress. Then again, she may not like dresses at all. This should be taken into consideration.

Comfort is the primary thing to take into consideration. Many fancy frocks can be itchy and that will distract the girl from receiving this sacrament. A soft, well-fitted dress that is checked out before hand is ideal. If this is done anything that is poking the child or scratch can be taken care of.

If there is a family dress that has been passed down it should be offered to the child. If they do not want to wear it, it is okay. It may not be their style and this day is about them not the dress. If she does like it then perhaps it could be altered to fit her.

If it's in the budget, the family could have a dress made for the special day. There are ways to keep the costs down if there is a talented seamstress in the family. This will be a dress that the girl can then pass down to her own children.

Another thought is to have the dress made just for the girl. There are all kinds of people who enjoy sewing and one could commission one of them to do this if the price is right. This will make the child feel very special.

A white fancy pantsuit could be an alternative. In these modern times it actually is an option and really what is important is the communion, not the outfit. A parent would like this to be a special day for their daughter and forcing them into something which makes them so uncomfortable may not be wise.

It's exciting to go to the store and try on a variety of gowns. This shopping trip can make a little girl feel unique and special. There are many choices so it is wise to leave a good amount of time for trying on and decision-making.

Be sure not to forget the accessories. A veil is usually worn or a bow in the hair. A lovely purse, shoes and frilly socks are also important. A rosary and a bible can be lovely with the outfit as well. A simple cross on a chain or a rosary bracelet should complement the outfit no matter what kind it is.

Choosing first Holy Communion dresses is an event that should be shared. Mom, dad and daughter can go together to select the perfect one. Include the child's godparents in the selection will make the day even more special. A family could actually start a new tradition in this way.
