So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Selecting A High Quality Cubic Zirconia Ring

By Jayne Rutledge

Diamonds are expensive and although everyone loves them, not everyone can afford them. A high quality cubic zirconia ring is the most sought alternative on the market. However, not all the stones in these rings are alike and while some have a brilliance and clarity very like diamonds, others look fake even to the untrained eye. It is important to understand how they are graded before making a purchase.

Carat, clarity, color and cut are all used for grading. These synthetic stones are much heavier than diamonds and the diameter is measured in millimeters. A caret weight may be as an equivalent for a diamond of the same size visually. These stones are created in a laboratory and any crystals that are not perfect are not used. They are virtually flawless whereas most diamonds have internal inclusions or external blemishes.

These stones, unlike diamonds, are synthetic. They are grown in the controlled environment of a laboratory. Any crystals that fall short of perfect clarity are not used. They can be made absolutely colorless whereas truly colorless diamonds are very rare.

How a stone refracts light depends on how it has been cut. One that is well cut reveals its true beauty, reflecting as much white light as possible. Facets are even, creating the right appearance. Diamonds reflect only white light which is what gives them their brilliance. If you want a stone that looks as much like a diamond as possible, you need to choose one with minimal color flashes. The more colored light refracted, the lower the quality.

Department stores often sell fairly inexpensive items. Higher grade items are sold in jewelry stores and customization of rings is offered. Many wholesalers sell their products at online stores today. This gives individuals the opportunity to search through a vast range of items at affordable prices.

Buying online also gives you the opportunity to compare a wide range of products, looking at different cuts and settings and examining prices. There are numerous different cuts available and settings vary considerably too with platinum, sterling silver and gold all being used. Prices vary depending on the factors like the grading of the stone, the cut and the setting used. Special offers are often available too.

If you are purchasing this item for someone else, it is a good idea to find out whether returns or exchanges are permitted before committing to a purchase. Jewelry is an intimate, personal item. It is meant to suit the style and personal tastes of the individual.

A high quality cubic zirconia ring is a great alternative for those who cannot afford a diamond. They may not have the same investment value but a well-cut, high-quality stone will refract much white light, having a very pleasing appearance. The ones being made today resemble diamonds so closely that even jewelers need to use a loupe to tell the difference.
