Ultimately, hand held fan devices like this are more for facial comfort rather than truly cooling your body down. That said, I'd rather have this thing than any other hand held fan cooling device. This fan produces a surprisingly great amount of breeze, especially after a long game of football. It has an adjusting fan speed setting (high for when I just finish playing sport, mid-range for normal cooling off) and works almost as well as an AC because the force of the breeze is quite strong. Got this just the right time! It gets the job done well fanning the receiver, - and with the extra cooling that unfortunately only lasts for 2 hours. To me, it's just a nicer looking fan with a bit of swamp cooling function. The only time when I really need it if I stay outdoors for long periods of time, which is once in a year, like last season's baseball game.
I just hope it has a nice long life so it'll last me the summer! I suffer from Hot Flashes induced by Cancer medications and HRT withdrawals; I found this product to be exactly what I need. The wind power isn't very powerful but you do feel a breeze of cool air blowing out of it. I was worried that this would be too heavy but I realized that the product itself is very light, just the batteries that take of most of its weight. Beyond that, it produces a nice cool breeze with a light humming noise. It's nothing that powerful, but you can definitely feel the breeze and the temperature of the air really is cooler.
The filter dries out in 1-2 hours depending on the conditions you use it in. I bought 4 rechargeable batteries for this device and it has worked well for me. They arrived in the mail in great condition in a timely manner, but using them is a headache. First you have to wash the sponges, and then you have to measure out the exact amount of water. It prevents me from turning into a giant mess. I'm on the go and very active indoors and out, this product has been fantastic, for me personally a life and sanity saver.
Stumbled across this on Amazon and decided to give it a try. It is terrific!
The build quality is just totally different and the sponge filter actually FITS into the unit! It's got stronger airflow and slightly quieter.
Now, they will only run on high for maybe 15 minutes (if you're lucky) before quickly winding down and then stopping all-together. That is with *brand new batteries*. We all have to educate ourselves. The USB adapter is something I use much more than I thought I would.

Perhaps putting some opaque curtains up would help keep the temperature down after window air conditioner installation. To sum it up, I'm very happy with the portable boat air conditioner.
