Probably less if you have the fan on "low". I got the AC adapter to go with it; otherwise you'll need to have batteries and possibly spares ready if you travel with it. It would have been better if the air was strong so that both my girlfriend and I can share the cooling. It's simple but works!
If I want to be in the same room as my husband and children (which I do) then when I am not in my office, I can use the Handy Cooler rather than the Kuul Aire, and use the Handy Cooler just on me. The hubby and kids can be comfortable, and I can be comfortable.
The only issue I have is that it doesn't come with the ac adapter and you have to spend that extra 10 bucks.
I have brought 3 fans so far because my 1st one has some trouble with the blade rotating, the flow of air goes on and off, I think this is caused by the power adapter for the wall outlet. You should stick with batteries or the USB adapter. I used it this past weekend and it cooled down our tent to a comfortable sleeping temperature in 85 degree heat. Now I'm spoilt and won't ever want to camp without this in the summer. We've tried the mini fans battery operated fans, the spray bottles with fans, ice packs and chairs with shade, some of them help but needless to say it is still hot. We love the Handy Cooler.
You will, no lie, get about an hour's use out of 4 AA batteries before the machine is pooched. Worse, we hadn't use the Handy Coolers for much more than maybe 6 or 8 hours total before both of them conked on us completely. I was hoping that one day technology would be advanced enough for a portable air conditioner that can keep your surrounding air cool.
I guess we still aren't there yet. Now, they will only run on high for maybe 15 minutes (if you're lucky) before quickly winding down and then stopping all-together. That is with *brand new batteries*. I ordered another one but a newer color one. It only lasted one day before stopping. It's not too big in size and not too heavy to carry around. It was 90 degrees and an obese person like me does not take the heat well. We bought x2 baby kits (mesh bag holder, flexible tube, & HCs).
Once they stopped working, I took the batteries out and used them elsewhere -- they had lots of juice left in them. The only thing I can conclude is that the motor in this thing is very poorly engineered. I like the fan. It does cool you off. Yes, this little puppy really does work as advertised. Just wet the sponge, turn the unit on, and point the air stream at your face.
